Attendance BOOST and web11:54 AM Hey Bootcampers! Hope this note finds you well. I meant to send this out yesterday, but did not get a chance. Because... Life, that's why.... AND that's also WHY I wanted to send you this message as well. Life gets in the way of our workout goals sometimes, but it doesn't have to. Because we are here to SUPPORT you in your goals, here's a way for this week (Monday, 2/8 -Sunday 2/13) I want to give you a BOOST. If you went for a run or ride or workout outside HYN and spoke with me about work or work-travel plans getting in the way, you can send me a screenshot of your fit bit or strava or map my run for up to two workouts and I will count it. Our goal here is to help keep you healthy - not cause additional stress! Plus we want to see you reach your fitness goals just as much as you do. That also means education - A few years ago I went on a triathlon training camp with Dave Scott, 6 time Kona Ironman winner. He gave us all kinds of material to help us in our training regime. Today I am attaching two of the information sheets he gave us: one is one nutrition (which focuses on protein for your body, ironically, he completed and won Kona as a vegetarian and still sourced vegetarian types of protein himself as of 2011 when I met him), and the other is a lost of fun exercises if you are home or in your hotel room or office and feel like an alternative to just doing squats and push ups from your desk. I will tell you that man woke up every day and swam 4500 meters before he trained us and trained along side us every day. He is an animal, and the nicest person you could ever meet. I'm hoping to continue to share some of these things with you and hope you enjoy them and find them beneficial. I've added a "Recommended Reading" section to my website and will add some other useful links later today. For example, if you do not yet own a Fitbit or Garmin or maybe even a good pair of running shoes or what kind of bike to buy, you might wonder where to go and what's the best price as these things do add up. Briefly, I will tell you I am a member at REI coop in Oakbrook and got a great deal on a Garmin there on sale, I use the Garmin for long rides and I use my Strava account on my phone for running, I use Amazon a lot for good deals, and I almost always get my shoes from the Running Company and have them record my stride on the treadmill as well as grill them about value. I am very picky about quality, so quality always comes first for me and what I would recommend to you. Here's to your health!
