So What's the Story? Well, let me tell you.
I was self employed for 16 years since leaving a public accounting firm in 2001 and a few years prior to that, part time while raising small children as a music teacher.
Why leave a good solid job that I acquired before I even graduated from college? I left for a few reasons. One is that I was shifted from tax into a position in auditing - which I loved. Auditing was fun, social and easy for me since I was super fast with excel. However, the man I was transitioned to was wholly unappealing. I hear it too often from my female friends and co-workers. I'd witness how he ogled co workers behinds as we entered his office and on weekends (yes, I worked weekends too) his children would throw my files on the floor and say, "go fetch!"
At that very same time my son fell ill with a chronic kidney disease landing us all in the hospital for two weeks. That's when I began researching home businesses. I was paying a lot for day care and because of the day care setting, my children seemed to become ill with colds and flus all the time. My middle son caught pink eye three times!
I had always worked, even while attending college. I taught preschool music and art. What I always wanted was a school that taught kids music, language, paleontology (read: dinosaurs), math and art from an early age. I started the home business and easily made as much money out the gate what I had been making at the accounting firm. From there I opened a brick and mortar business that offered more than I could offer at home including Japanese, mosaic making, culture classes, Italian, Mandarin, French, Spanish, painting, Islamic architecture, Islamic poetry, cultural workshops and clubs, art exhibits and housed two other schools which were Russian and German. Family obligation called again and I found myself pulled in many directions.
When they say it takes a village, it is true. I have received help, advice, money, love, hugs, ears and more from so many wonderful people ... including challenges from some people, well, maybe not so wonderful. I am thankful for it all. I have also helped so many people with resume building, website work, marketing collateral, business start ups, fund raising, creating business plans, social media and business design. I also believe in social responsibility. Every year I find ways to give back to a number of charities whether by lending a hand, buying bags of dog food or helping with events or fund raising.
I don't want to run your successful business, I want to help YOU run your successful business! Email me today with your business needs.
